The newly opened (Spring 2018) Hotel Indigo - Harrisburg/Hershey underwent major renovations before becoming the sparkling contemporary design it is now. Formerly Hotel Harrisburg, the current owners went with a blend of silver, turquoise, and greys throughout the building. Details include work of art window shades and (unforgettable) Delta in2ition showerhead combo kits.
Business travelers can get their workout done in between meetings at the gym. Join karatekas on treadmills, lift weights, and stretch out calves. While I did visit the gym, my schedule was jam-packed and kept me busy and too tired to try anything. Kids love the outdoor seasonal pool which is ADA compliant. Not in the mood for a swim? Grab a magazine or the guidebook from your room and chill outside or stay cozy in the lounge.
Riverrun is the in-house restaurant and bar serving affordable meals for breakfast and dinner. They're capable of working with food allergies; talk to your server before ordering. Whether visiting on your own or with a group, the setting works for everyone. The bartender has a sense of humor, chat him up.
In room 431, I found myself surprisingly upgraded to a kickin' king suite. It's the kind of place where you don't mind staying an extra night when transportation plans change. The best layout I've seen thus far in any hotel, the two-room suite includes a kitchenette with bar seating for 2, microwave, mini-fridge, sink, and coffee maker. Put your coats and boots in the coat closet before crashing on the sleep sofa and watching TV. Make use of the workspace and control the temperature separately from the bedroom. Ready to retire for the night, head to the bedroom and impress your spouse by laying seductively on the fainting couch. Hang your clothes in the bathroom double closet or put them away in the dressers. Storage is aplenty. Suites go for far less than you would expect. Future dates found for $135 - $190. Wi-Fi and parking are complimentary.
Hotel Indigo - Harrisburg/Hershey is quiet and easily accessible to highways. A gas station is down the road, shops and restaurants are nearby and walkable. You might prefer driving instead of crossing busy roads. Arrive at attractions in Harrisburg and Hershey in 20 minutes or less. Overall, I was quite happy with my stay and would return without hesitation.
